Motorcycle security devices – or how do you stop your pride and joy being stolen?

As someone who has been on the receiving end we know how unpleasant it is having your motorcycle stolen but what can you really do to stop a determined thief?

Well, if he’s determined probably not a lot unfortunately.

So what we are really looking at is a deterrent to an opportunist thief.

You’ll probably find that your insurance company offers a discount if you use a reputable make of chain/ground anchor/alarm.

Saunderson security offer a range of security for your motorcycle including locks, chains, ground anchors, which are mainly Oxford branded items, as well as something we’d not seen before – a motorcycle wheel clamp – it ’s not light at 6kg but it might just be worth the effort and expense if it stops one more thief.

A great bikers pub in the heart of Leicestershire, handy for local race meetings.  Great food, bike meets, bike nights and music gigs

It is open evenings only Monday to Friday from 7pm (Thursday is bike night) and from noon to 1am weekends. Tel 01530 814718. Camping on site.

It is a top motorcycle friendly place to stay, that you could stay at en route to Scotland or further afield, although you may not want to leave.

Sammy Miller Museum

Here you will find a fantastic collection of motorcycles including ex Sammy Miller racing motorcycles. There are over 400 rare and classic motorcycles on display and is referred to as a living museum because a lot of the exhibits are run regularly and displayed at events all around the world. You can also glimpse motorcycles being restored in the units around the courtyard and enjoy a cup of tea or whatever takes your fancy in the tearoom. They also have an events programme on their website.
