Motorcycle Magazines

· Motorcycle Magazines

We do tend to have a lot of magazines cross our path in this house and therefore it makes sense to have them on subscription, not only because of the cost saving but because they also arrive about a week before they appear on the newsagents shelves.

Here are some of our favourites:

Real Classic – magazine run by Frank Westworth, previously the editor of Classic Bike Guide and general all round good bloke. This is our favourite classic magazine, we particularly like Frank’s Tales From The Shed monthly ramblings. It is available only by subscription from their website or from their stand at various classic bike shows. It is also considerably cheaper than other similar magazines.

There is also an excellent and extremely active forum at their website.

Plus free to advertise motorcycles for sale section both in the magazine and on their website. Click Here For The Real Classic Website

Motorcycle Sport and Leisure – this is one of our favourite magazines. It combines new bike reports, news and comment as well as articles on various overseas adventures including a regular slot by motorcycle travellers Kevin and Julia Saunders.

Riders Digest – this is our current favourite magazine. If you want to be spoken to like a grown up and read intelligent articles on your favourite subject then I am sure you will love it too.

They have a lively letters page and a great competition every month. Plus new product reviews and a classifieds section.

Riders Digest started off as a London biased magazine targeted at motorcycle couriers. It then went national and is now available free from lots of motorcycle shops, pubs, cafes in fact anywhere bikers congregate. This year (2009) they launched a new larger paid-for version which you can buy in WH Smiths or get a subscription from their website. The smaller free version is still available and you can get a list of where it’s available in your area from their website by clicking here

Another great online shop is Get Geared whose website says they aim to keep biking affordable.

Can’t say fairer than that.
